Y A R R E D Presents Summer Beats Playlist (2026)
To celebrate the release of my EP Everything We Want and another Bandcamp Friday, I thought it’d be fun to share a playlist of some of my beloved upbeat Jungle, Drum & Bass, Progressive House, and Breakbeat electronica tracks from a variety of producers. (And of course, the occasional dip into the sunset waters of Synthwave.)
Trust me, this is about half of the original playlist I came up with, so maybe I’ll post a “B-sides” playlist down the road. Also, I had so much fun putting this together I think I’ll do one for the fall centered on chillout and downtempo.

“Bonus Track”
Jerome Froese of Tangerine Dream is how I was introduced to the world of Jungle / Drum & Bass, primarily starting with his work on Dream Mixes II. Froese never “purely” fit into this genre you might say. Which is generally true for all his work and he’s always produced a fusion of multiple genres with a unique dash of that Berlin School vibe he got from his father. But if you’re looking for the most purist Jungle beats from Jerome Froese, Vivid Scarlet Hue is perhaps his finest example.
Additional Notes
I won’t add commentary on every track, but I’ll simply issue my stream of conciousness remarks for your reading pleasure (?).
Claes Rosen has sick production skills, I’m always in awe. If you’ve never heard the OceanLab (aka Above & Beyond) album Sirens of the Sea, you are in for a real treat. Matrix & Futurebound…not my favorite act in general, but they’ve put out some real bangers. Schodt came and went with one prog house album release, but OH WOW is it next level. Ayup, here’s Jerome Froese again kicking ass. London Grammar gives me chills, every time, and this is one of their most catchy songs. Nia Archives has exploded onto the modern Drum & Bass scene and I’ve had her newest record Emotional Junglist on repeat for weeks now! ** Not sure if St. Lucia quite belongs on this playlist, but I simply can’t resist, they’re phenomenal. Commix…only recently came across their early 2000s work and it’s some truly stellar jungle. Matt Fax coming in with an emotional prog house song, always glad when this pops up in my queue. The Midnight is of course no strange to any synthwave fan, but I think their newest record Syndicate is their best release to date and this is one of my favorite songs from the corpus.
